What is pH pH paper, pH testing strips and how to use them What is pH and When to use pH strips and how to use them ph Definition :  pH simply explained, is a logarithmic scale and inversely indicates the concentration of hydrogen ions to measure  the relative amount of free hydrogen and hydroxyl ions.   pH measurements utilize a scale from  0 to 14 to specify acidity or basicity of an aqueous solution.  On one side of the pH scale are the acids, and the other side of the scale  is considered alkaline also called "base." Acidic solutions are when measured and they have lower pH values. Strong acids are typically considered to be at pH of 0 to about 4.0 and become weaker up to what are considered mild acids at around 6.0 pH. Neutral is 6.5 to 7.3.
